Jesus has created us for a purpose, he has a plan for our lives, I know you've probably heard this so many times but it is true.
In Romans 5:8 it says "While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. While God knew how imperfect we were he died for us because he has a purpose for us and His loves exceeds all sin. God wouldn't have died knowing we were full of sin and imperfect if he didn't have a purpose. In other words God had a plan for us since the beginning of time and he wants to use us in spite of our sin and imperfections. Flaws can be the most beautiful thing about someone. Something you might hate, someone else might be inspired by it.
We try so much to be perfect and put ourselves down when we make a mistake, but we are not meant to try to be perfect before God can use us. That is a myth. The closer we become to God, the more sensitive we become to His spirit.
We will start to understand our purpose and who we are when we do this because when we understand our creator we understand how he made us and where he wants to bring us. He will cleanse us and show us our failures and our imperfections and will mold it into something amazing for his kingdom. All you need to do is come as you are. Don't try and fix yourself up all good, come broken. He is the potter and we are the clay. It takes a long process of God molding us and refining us.
You don't have to be 30 to finally be used or be good enough. You are exactly what he wants now.
"Throughout scripture we see God using imperfect people for the sake of his mission. We never quite understood why Jesus chose the individuals he did, but I am guessing his reasoning was to further prove the power of Christ. He didn’t call the popular, rich or successful to further his ministry, but rather, the poor, broken and faithful."
From an outside perspective, we can see that It didn’t matter where people were from, what they had done, or who they use to be; Jesus used all people for the good of His will. Here are some examples of people that were used for the greatness of HIS glory.
• Abraham -Was old.
• Elijah – Was suicidal.
• Joseph – Was abused.
• Job – Went bankrupt.
• Moses – Had a speech problem.
• Gideon – Was afraid.
• Samson – Was a womanizer.
• Rahab – Was a prostitute.
• Samaritan Woman – Divorced.
• Noah – Was a Drunk.
• Jeremiah – Was young.
• Jacob – Was a cheater.
• David – Was a murderer.
• Jonah – Ran from God.
• Naomi – Was a widow.
• Peter – Denied Christ three times
• Martha – Worried about everything.
• Zacchaeus – Was small and money hungry.
• The Disciples – Fell asleep while praying. • Paul – A Pharisee who persecuted Christians before becoming one.
There are really no excuses to say well I can't do it because of this..." You can do all things nothing is impossible.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
-Romans 8:28
One thing that always brings us down and makes us feel inadequate is insecurity.
Definition of being Insecure- A very flawed character trait that results from low confidence and low self-esteem, often due to rejection or a humiliating experience as a child. They feel socially inadequate, causing them to worry about what people think about them. They want to be liked by people and will go out of their way to please others, because they don’t want people mad at them. Insecure people often compare themselves to others to see how they “stack up” against the perceived “competition.”
-Someone who insults others to hide their own weaknesses.
Insecurity can bring us down when living for God because God can't use us the way we want to because we are putting limitations. We begin to listen to the voice of the world and we become distracted.
It is not about us, it is about God working through our insecurities to mold us.
God will never leave you empty handed.
Do not think that you cannot fit in the kingdom of God or that you are too young or incapable to do anything.
There is a ministry waiting for you.
Ministry doesn't just include a couple categories it can be several things. God can use you in so many areas in your life.
2 Corinthians 10:12 "For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves, are not wise."
This means that God doesn't want us to compare ourselves to one another.. we all have talents and gifts God has given us and we need to uplift ourselves.
We compare ourselves so much, with who is better than who and who can play better than who when it doesn't matter in the kingdom of God.
Do not put limits on God. Challenge yourself this week. I dare you to do one new thing that is out of your comfort zone.
Worry about what God says of you, than what this world says.
Most of the time it is our flesh holding us back.
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
God wants to use us but we so often limit ourselves with what we can and cannot do by saying I'm not good enough.
God wants to use your imperfections for his kingdom.
Exodus 4:10-14
10 Moses replied, “I have never been a good speaker. I wasn’t one before you spoke to me, and I’m not one now.
I am slow at speaking, and I can never think of what to say.”
11 But the Lord answered, “Who makes people able to speak or makes them deaf or unable to speak? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Don’t you know that I am the one who does these things? 12 Now go! When you speak, I will be with you and give you the words to say.”
13 Moses begged, “Lord, please send someone else to do it.”
14 The Lord became irritated with Moses and said:
“What about your brother Aaron, the Levite? I know he is a good speaker. He is already on his way here to visit you, and he will be happy to see you again. 15-16 Aaron will speak to the people for you, and you will be like me, telling Aaron what to say. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will tell each of you what to do. 17 Now take this walking stick and use it to perform miracles.”
Step out of your comfort zone. Your voice can change the direction of your life. Let God use your voice for good and to speak good into others lives.
God doesn't only want us to step out on the water he wants us to dive right in.
If you ever feel like you aren’t worthy enough, remember that Jesus used a bunch of flawed people to share Hope to a flawed world. In HIM we find renewal and mending. Jesus didn’t call the equipped, He equipped the called. And no matter what you’ve been through in life, remember that the same power that conquered the grave lives within you.
The average person has 500-700 abilities or skills.
Try and step out of your comfort zone today.
